Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Tailors' Atelier (“we”, “us”) is a community for tailors, their customers and people who design cross stitch, on this website and in our Android app. It is made by OBBLiT. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
1. Information you give us
- Your account: your username, password (stored only in a scrambled, one-way form), first and last name, email address, whether you are a tailor or a customer, and your gender.
- Your profile: anything you add, such as a picture, bio, phone number, specialties, your country and state, and your address lines. Customers' profiles are private until they choose to make them public. A tailor's address shows only if they choose; a customer's address is seen only by the people they choose to share it with. Your phone number is seen only by you and the site's admins.
- What you share: posts, comments, reactions, messages, forum discussions, pictures, videos and other files, cross stitch designs and styles. Who can see each of these depends on the settings you choose (for example, everyone, friends only or only you).
- Studio tools: measurements, invoices, prices, discounts and the payment details you add for your customers.
- Feedback and reports: what you send us, and posts, comments or people you report.
- Gifts (donations): if you send a gift by card, we keep your email address, the amount, any name and message you add, and the payment reference. If you send one with crypto and tell us, we keep what you tell us (the amount, network and transaction ID).
2. Information we collect when you use Tailors' Atelier
- Activity: actions such as signing in, posting and saving, kept for 30 days so the site's admins can keep it safe and fix problems.
- Profile visits: which profiles you visit, used to show you posts from people you visit often and to suggest people you may know.
- Notifications: kept for 90 days.
- Gift button: each time the Gift button is used, and what is chosen next, with your account or, if you are not signed in, a random session ID kept on your device.
- Location (only if you ask): if you tap “Get my location”, your device's approximate position is sent to our server and looked up with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to fill in your country and state. We do not keep the position itself. In the app, this needs your permission, which you can refuse or take back at any time.
- Technical information: like most websites, our server receives your IP address and basic device and browser details when you connect. We use the IP address to protect the service (for example, to limit repeated sign-in attempts).
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We store a few small items on your device (browser storage, or the app's own storage): your sign-in, your light or dark theme, colours you mixed in the studio, feed and notification preferences, and the random session ID mentioned above. These are needed for the site to work and are not used to advertise to you.
Our advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies as described in the next section. You can clear or block cookies in your browser's settings; parts of the site, such as staying signed in, may then not work.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense and AdMob)
Tailors' Atelier is free, and is supported by ads. On the website, ads are shown by Google AdSense; in the Android app, by Google AdMob.
- Google and its partners, as third-party vendors, use cookies (on the website) and your device's advertising ID (in the app) to show ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites and apps.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.
- You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- To learn how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time.
5. How we use your information
- To run Tailors' Atelier: your account, your profile, sharing, messages, the studio tools, invoices and notifications.
- To show you relevant posts and people (for example, from your friends, from profiles you visit often and from people near you).
- To keep the community safe: dealing with reports, preventing spam and misuse, and enforcing our rules.
- To process gifts and confirm that payments arrived.
- To show ads, as described above.
- To answer your feedback and improve Tailors' Atelier.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Who we share it with
- Other people on Tailors' Atelier, according to your settings (for example, your public posts and profile).
- Service providers who help us run the service: our hosting provider and database provider (MongoDB Atlas), Paystack (card gifts; your card details go to Paystack, not to us), Google (ads, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for app notifications), your browser's push service (website notifications) and OpenStreetMap Nominatim (only when you use “Get my location”).
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and others.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and what you share for as long as your account exists, unless you delete it sooner. Activity records are deleted after 30 days and notifications after 90 days. When an account is deleted, its posts, messages, files, designs, measurements, invoices and styles are deleted too. We may keep a record of gifts where we need it for our accounts.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can see and change your profile, who sees your profile, posts and styles, and which notifications you get, in Profile & settings.
- You can delete your own posts, comments and files.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account, using Send feedback (at the bottom of the site, or in the app under Account).
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to some uses of your information or to complain to your data protection authority.
9. Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), scrambled passwords and access only for the people who need it. No service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use elsewhere.
10. Children
Tailors' Atelier is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the app or on the site about important changes.
12. Contact us
